The method involves estimating a number (N) of neighboring nodes, and modifying diffusion period of network neighboring discovered message based on the estimated number of nodes, where the diffusion period is linked to the number of neighboring nodes estimated by a polynomial function of degree 2. The number of network neighboring discovered messages is determined by one of the nodes receiving the network neighboring discovered message. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a communication system (2) a node of a communication system.
