The balcony has two U-shaped support arms (5) fixed at a ship body (13) by welding or with bolts, and a lamellar transparent glazing element (3) with a transparent base layer and a solar cell layer. The solar cell layer partially covers the base layer and converts solar energy into electricity, where the solar cell layer is partially transparent. The solar cell layer is connected with a conversion device i.e. inverter (12), over a wire (11) to convert the voltage generated by the solar cell layer to an operational voltage of a ship of about 230 volts. The glazing element is made of glass.
