The system has a cooling circuit for cooling an internal combustion engine by circulation of cooling liquid. An adsorber container (1) includes an adsorbent material (3) e.g. active carbon, to adsorb and desorb fuel vapor. The container comprises a heat exchanger (13) in thermal contact with the adsorbent material. The heat exchanger is mounted on a derivation loop i.e. secondary duct, quilted on the cooling circuit. The adsorbent material is mounted in a casing (2) that includes a fuel vapor inlet (4) and a fuel vapor outlet (5) in communication with the material. An independent claim is also included for a method for purging an adsorber container of fuel vapor issued from a fuel tank of a hybrid car.
