The invention relates to an oxido-reducing active mass comprising a natural manganese ore of pyrolusite type initially comprising at least 60% by weight of MnO2, said mass being enriched with nickel oxide and in the form of particles. The invention also relates to a process for burning solid, liquid or gaseous hydrocarbon feeds by chemical loop redox using such an oxido-reducing active mass. Advantageously, the invention applies in the field of CO2 capture.
