The method involves generating a control signal (34) utilized for electrical connection of a lithium source i.e. electrode, to a positive electrode to regenerate an electrochemical cell according to an estimated value of current quantity of lithium present in the electrode and a nominal quantity of lithium in the electrode. Lithium is transferred between the electrode to be regenerated and the lithium source. The control signal is transmitted (35) towards an electric connection unit of the lithium source and the electrode to regenerate the electrode. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for managing capacity of a lithium battery (2) a refillable electrical energy production system (3) a car.
