The circuit has an integrated protection system (1) comprising a temperature sensor (11), an asynchronous type frequency meter (12), and a heat source (10) or light source i.e. LED, where value of measurement of physical quantity depends on relative position between the heat source, and the sensor and the meter. A checking module (15) controls the sensor or the meter so as to deliver a measurement representative of the physical quantity for a set of preset lengths of time. The module blocks operation of the circuit if the measurement does not correspond to a stored preset reference value. An independent claim is also included for a method for designing an integrated circuit.
