The method involves creating a target text zone and determining dimensions of the target text zone, where the target text zone forms a limited and solidified maximum space. The target text zone is associated specifically with a reference text block (ZREF1). The target text zone is created for a reference document (10). A translation language is provided for translation corresponding to contents of the reference document. An indication is provided to the operator if the characters translated and seized in the target text zone overflow space allocated by the target text zone. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for assisting translation of a reference document (2) a device for generation of a translation assisting device.
