The present invention relates to a composition consisting of a suspension in the glycerol of metal nanoparticles comprising at least one transition metal, said suspension also comprises at least one stabilizing agent of the said metal nanoparticles, soluble in the glycerol. The suspensions obtained are stable and exhibit a high activity and selectivity for the catalytic process. They can be recycled and stored while preserving their characteristics. A process for obtaining such a suspension metal nanoparticles is made directly in the glycerol. Its use as a catalytic composition in a synthesis from an organic substrate is also claimed.
