The device (1) has assemblies (10, 20) including respective support surfaces (11, 21) of a three-dimensional structure (T1). A movement unit (19) allows movement of one of the assemblies relative to another assembly along a first direction (I). The movement unit is configured, so that the structure is stressed in shearing when the movement unit is arranged between the surfaces. The former assembly has a flexible element (12) to allow variation of spacing (L1) between the surfaces according to second direction (II) orthogonal to the first direction during relative movement of first assembly. An independent claim is also included for a method for shear test of a three-dimensional fabric structure.
