The apparatus has a rigid geophysical equipment (105) of a large length having a ratio of the length to a width dimension or a largest height of approximately 1000:1 or more. The equipment includes control surfaces e.g. retractable wings (110a, 110b), for controlling a movement of the equipment when the equipment is towed in water body (15) by a project research ship. A front end connects a rigid marine streamer to the ship. Another marine streamer supports a geophysical sensor or a cable source for towing energy sources. Spacers are placed in an external coating of an equipment section. The geophysical sensor is a pressure sensor. An independent claim is also included for a geophysical research method.
