The method involves isolating branches of batteries (10-12) from each other by a distributor (13), connecting switches e.g. opening switch (17) and closing switch (21), in series with the branches of batteries, and successively recharging branches of batteries at the time of split cycles. The batteries are connected to an electric motor (7) over the switches, where the switches are controlled by a controller. The batteries and the electric motor are connected parallel to the distributer, where the electric motor and a gear box are connected by a coupling unit. An independent claim is also included for a terrestrial vehicle.
