A method of calibrating a multiport amplifier having a plurality of input ports (PE1 - PE4), a plurality of power amplifiers (PA1 - PA4) connected to said input ports through a distribution matrix of signals (IBM), a plurality of output ports (PS1 - PS4) connected to said power amplifiers via a signal recombination matrix (OBM) and a plurality of signal weighting elements (WU1 - WU4) associated with said power amplifiers; the method being characterized in that it comprises the steps of: determining a standardized mean intercorrelation between an output signal present at said output port, taken as a reference, and the signals present at the other said output ports; and iteratively adjusting weights of said weighting elements to minimize said normalized average cross correlation or to make it lower than a predetermined threshold.
