Apparatus for delivering electrical stimulation to a users foot with a pivoted foot contact surface

An apparatus 2 for the electrical stimulation of a subjects foot is provided. The apparatus 2 comprises a contact member 14b with a contact surface 16b for contacting the plantar surface of a foot of the subject. It also has means for delivering an electrical stimulation to the foot by supplying an electrical current to the contact surface 16b. This results in electrical stimulation of the plantar muscles of the foot of the subject. The contact surface is pivoted about a point disposed between opposing ends or opposing sides of the contact surface, preferably the mid-point, to allow the angle of the joints of the foot and ankle to change during the electrical stimulation cycle. Preferably, the apparatus comprises a pivotably mounted axle assembly 28, wheels 32 and rocker assembly 26 and the housing of the apparatus 2 can rock about the axis of the wheels 32, to allow the joints of the ankle and foot to move. The contact surface is preferably elongate or contoured.
