PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head count measurement method capable of efficiently measuring the head count of existing people from an entire image taken by a camera.;SOLUTION: A head count measurement method for measuring a head count of existing people in an obtained image includes: a reference surface area calculation step for geometrically approximating a person by an oblique rectangle that is a straight rectangle slanted for a predetermined angle in a photographed area in an image, and calculating a reference surface area in advance, defining an area occupied by the oblique rectangle at a different position on the image; a foreground detection step for detecting a foreground area from an object image for measuring a head count; and a head count calculation step for calculating a head count of existing people in the image using calculation results of the reference surface area in the foreground area.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2015,JPO&INPIT
