PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external surface corrosion inspection device and an external surface corrosion inspection method which inspect the external surface corrosion of a thick wall part of a pipeline objectively.;SOLUTION: An external surface corrosion inspection device 10 inspects external surface corrosion 74 of a thick wall part 71 of a pipeline 70 on the basis of an ultrasonic wave reflected on an inner surface 73 of the thick wall part 71, and comprises: an ultrasonic array sensor 11 which is moved so as to be in contact with an external surface 72 of the thick wall part 71 to transmit and receive the ultrasonic wave to be reflected on the inner surface 73 of the thick wall part 71; an ultrasonic flaw detection part 30 which transmits and receives the ultrasonic wave to/from the ultrasonic array sensor 11 with a phased array method; an external surface thinning imaging part 40 which forms a reflection echo image of the situation of the external surface corrosion 74 of the thick wall part 71 on the basis of transmission and reception information transmitted and received by the ultrasonic flaw detection part 30; and a display part 60 which displays the reflection echo image.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2016,JPO&INPIT
