PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively control ignition timing and a pressure buildup rate of an HCCI engine depending on each operation state by means of a low-cost device.SOLUTION: A non-thermal equilibrium plasma generator 2 provided in a gas mixture supply system up to an intake port of each cylinder forms an easy ignition region in the gas mixture by applying a pulsed discharge voltage to the gas mixture. A control circuit 4 controls the discharge voltage applied to the non-thermal equilibrium plasma generator 2, discharge timing, and a discharge period on the basis of detection values of a crank angle sensor and a load sensor attached to an engine, controls the discharge timing so that the easy ignition region can be inhaled into a combustion chamber of each cylinder in an intake stroke of the cylinder on the basis of the detection value of the crank angle sensor, and controls the discharge voltage and the discharge period depending on the number of revolutions and load of the engine, thereby controlling ignition timing and a pressure buildup rate of each cylinder.
