PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste water treatment apparatus that can efficiently remove phosphorus using only biological phosphorus removal to stably maintain the concentration of phosphorus in treated water at a low level and perform the concentration and recovery of phosphorus.SOLUTION: A waste water treatment apparatus comprises: a waste water treatment tank 104 in which waste water and a PAOs carrier 102 are brought into contact with each other under an aerobic condition; a phosphorus release tank 106 in which the PAOs carrier having taken phosphorus and organic acid-containing water are brought into contact with each other to release the taken phosphorus from phosphorus accumulation bacteria; carrier extraction means 101 that extracts the PAOs carrier 102 from the waste water treatment tank 104 into the phosphorus release tank 106; carrier return means 103 that returns the extracted PAOs carrier 102 from the phosphorus release tank 106 into the waste water treatment tank 104; and phosphorus concentrate discharge means 105 that discharges a phosphorus concentrate, concentrated by phosphorus release in the phosphorus release tank 106, from the phosphorus release tank 106.
