PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an artificial feather for a shuttlecock having high durability and providing an excellent feeling of hitting, and a shuttlecock for badminton.SOLUTION: An artificial feather 3 for a shuttlecock comprises: a feather part 5, and a shaft connected to the feather part 5. The shaft includes: an inner surface 7a; an outer surface 7b opposed to the inner surface 7a; a first side surface 7c connecting one end of the inner surface 7a to one end of the outer surface 7b; and a second side surface 7d connecting another end of the inner surface 7a to another end of the outer surface 7b. A portion of at least one of the first and second side parts 7c and 7d includes a concave portion 11 extending in an extending direction of the shaft.
