An artificial feather for a shuttlecock and a badminton shuttlecock achieving suppressed degradation of flight performance and having high durability, and methods of manufacturing the same are provided. An artificial feather (3) for a shuttlecock includes a feather portion, and a shaft connected to the feather portion. The shaft has a rectangular shape in cross section in a plane perpendicular to a direction in which the shaft extends, and the shaft includes a uniaxially stretched material. With this structure in which the shaft includes the uniaxially stretched material, by utilizing the characteristics of the uniaxially stretched material (such characteristics that the material can be elastically deformed within a wider range of distortion than usual materials), even when a shuttlecock (1) employing this artificial feather (3) for a shuttlecock is hit with a racket, the shaft of the artificial feather (3) is temporarily deformed under the impact of hitting, and then returns to its original shape without breaking. Therefore, the durability against hitting with a racket can be improved when compared to a conventional artificial feather.
