PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brace instrument for a wooden building that can impart both earthquake resistance and damping performance to the wooden building with a simple structure.SOLUTION: A brace instrument for wooden building includes: a cylindrical body 1 which has a male screw cut on its outer peripheral surface and has a through hollow extending from a female tapered surface c2 of an entrance to a right circular cylindrical inner hole c3; and an insertion body 2 which has a head part 6a in a male tapered shape having a diameter larger than the diameter of the inner hole c3 at a maximum diameter position and a shaft part 6b having a diameter smaller than the diameter of the inner hole c3, and absorbs vibration energy of an earthquake by making the shaft part 6b project from a rear end of the cylindrical body 1 through the through hollow and the head part 6a move so as to press and spread the inner hole c3 while the head part 6a is positioned on the female tapered surface c2 of the cylindrical body 1 when the cylindrical body 1 is threadably engaged with a horizontal member.
