PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bridge pier soundness evaluation method and a bridge pier soundness evaluation device capable of accurately evaluating soundness of a bridge pier taking into consideration running safety of a train.;SOLUTION: A bridge pier soundness evaluation method estimates character frequency of a bridge pier 3 according to a magnitude of acceleration when a train passes on the assumption that a response spectrum when the train passes is equivalent to the response spectrum when an earthquake occurs. However, action on the bridge pier 3 when the train passes varies depending on a type of the train. Also, a direction of vibration (acceleration) applied to the bridge pier 3 is not uniform and the vibration perpendicular to an axial direction of a bridge 5 negatively affects running safety of the train. Thus, focusing on amplitude of the acceleration, the bridge pier soundness evaluation method evaluates the soundness of the bridge pier 3 with an acceleration amplitude ratio obtained by dividing a maximum value of acceleration amplitude perpendicular to the axial direction of the bridge by the maximum value of the acceleration amplitude in the axial direction of the bridge.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2015,JPO&INPIT
