PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily detect a shape line of a liquid pool of coating liquid applied to a carrier film and a coating defect.SOLUTION: Slurry S discharged from a coating head 12 is applied continuously to one side main surface of a carrier film F transported by transportation rolls 18, 20. Meanwhile, an infrared light emitted from infrared illuminations 34, 36 is irradiated toward the slurry S applied to the carrier film F from the another side main surface side of the carrier film F. An infrared scattering light scattered by the slurry S is imaged by a camera 32. Coating situation of the slurry S is observed based on the image data outputted from the camera 32. And, coating setting of a supply amount of the slurry S, a tension of the carrier film F etc. is changed corresponding to the coating situation observed.
