PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously remove pollutants and greenhouse gas from flue gas without causing harm to the natural environment.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a method for removing pollutants and greenhouse gas, such as SO, NO, and CO, from flue gas. The method includes the steps of: a) bringing the flue gas into contact with natural sea water in a reverse, parallel, or orthogonal direction for an arbitrary time to remove SOfrom the flue gas; b) bringing the flue gas into contact with treated alkaline water in a reverse, parallel, or orthogonal direction to remove COand NOfrom the flue gas and to generate oxygen and carbon particles; and c) recovering or discharging the flue gas after the step b). A system is also provided which removes pollutants and greenhouse gas, such as SO, NO, and CO, from flue gas. The method and system of the present invention are significantly economical and useful and do not cause harm to the natural environment. Elemental carbon and oxygen are generated as final products and can be recovered as an energy source.
