PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce consumption power of a packet classification apparatus by preventing unnecessary memory access in advance.;SOLUTION: A packet classification apparatus comprises a command input block, and plural rule comparison blocks. The command input block creates a search command for instructing a search of a rule matched with a search key, an insertion command for instructing addition of a new rule, or a deletion command for instructing deletion of an existing rule as input commands. The plural rule comparison blocks are classified into plural groups in view of kinds of combination of fields under a managed rule. The group that may manage the rule matched with the search key, the new rule or the existing rule is a selection group. The command input block inputs an input command only to the rule comparison blocks belonging to the selection group by referring to the search key, the new rule or the existing rule.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
