PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce force applied to an optical fiber in an optical fiber holding component.;SOLUTION: An optical fiber holding component 1 includes a ferrule 2, an optical fiber 3 having a front end inserted and fixed to the ferrule 2 and having the rear end side drawn out to the outside from a rear end of the ferrule 2, a holder 4 which holds the rear end of the ferrule 2 so as to surround the rear end of the ferrule 2 together with a part of the drawn-out optical fiber 3, and a case 5 having a press-fitting region to which a part on the front end side of the ferrule 2 in the holder 4 is press-fitted. In a cross-sectional view, a rear end surface of the ferrule 2 is located nearer to the rear end side of the ferrule 2 in the holder 4 than the press-fitting region of the case 5. Therefore, pressure applied to the rear end part of the ferrule 2 from the holder 4 can be reduced, and the contraction of an inner diameter of the ferrule 2 can be suppressed. As a result, the possibility that external force is locally concentrated on a part of the optical fiber 3 can be reduced.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
