PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for synthesizing 4, 4' disubstituted 4H-cyclopentadithiophene.;SOLUTION: There is provided a method for synthesizing a compound having general formula (I), including a step of reacting a compound (II) in the presence of a diprotic acid having a negative pKa, wherein R₁ and R₂ are organic groups; X and Y are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, iodine, boronic acid, boronate ester, borane, pseudohalogen and organotin.
