This application describes tungsten oxoalkylidene complexes for olefin metathesis. The present invention provides a compound having a structure of any of the formulas described herein, wherein the compound is a 14e tungsten oxoalkylidene complex. In some embodiments, the complex is a syn isomer. The present invention also provides a compound having a structure of any of the formulas described herein, wherein the compound is a 16e tungsten oxoalkylidene complex.
