PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot pig iron desulfurizer and a hot pig iron desulfurization method in which an impeller in a stand-by state between desulfurization treatments is heat-insulated, thereby crack initiation of a refractory material coated on an impeller surface can be suppressed.;SOLUTION: In a hot pig iron desulfurizer that includes: an impeller coated with a refractory material; and a dust collection vessel that dust-collects dust generated during desulfurization treatment, a desulfuring agent is input in hot pig iron in a hot pig iron ladle, agitated by an impeller, thereby desulfurization treatment is performed, the dust collection vessel includes a dust collection hood that covers an upper side of the hot pig iron ladle, the dust collection hood is divided to a dust collection hood stationary portion and two or more dust collection hood movable parts, an inner surface of the dust collection hood stationary portion and each dust collection hood movable part is coated with a heat reserve property refractory material, and movable mechanism that makes each dust collection hood movable part selectively move between a state to cover an upper side of the hot pig iron ladle and a state to cover an impeller is disposed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
