PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a method for immobilizing and removing copper ions from a copper ion-containing nickel chloride aqueous solution, capable of reducing copper concentration in a nickel chloride aqueous solution down to a low concentration region, and further capable of suppressing generated sulfide from being made fine to improve filterability of the sulfide; and a method for producing electrolytic nickel in which the copper ion removal method is applied.SOLUTION: The method for removing copper ions in a nickel chloride aqueous solution includes: a reduction step S21 of adding nickel sulfide into a copper ion-containing nickel chloride aqueous solution to reduce copper ions; and a copper ion immobilization step S22 of supplying hydrogen sulfide to a slurry obtained through the reduction step S21 to immobilize the reduced copper ions as copper sulfide; and a solid-liquid separation step S23 of performing solid-liquid separation on the slurry obtained through the copper ion immobilization step S22.
