PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas decomposition element which can display a high throughput capacity for its small size as a device, while curbing a running cost through using an electrochemical reaction, above all, especially with the purpose of making ammonia available.SOLUTION: This gas decomposition element includes a cartridge membrane electrode assembly (MEA) 7 constituted of an inner surface side anode 2, an outer surface side cathode 5 and a solid electrolyte 1 sandwiched between the anode 2 and the cathode 5. In addition. the element has a porous metallic material 11s introduced into the inner surface side of the cartridge MEA 7, in such a state that the material 11s is kept in contact with a first electrode, and a center conducting rod 11k inserted to serve as a conducting shaft for the porous metallic material 11s.
