PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for recovering copper from a copper etching waste liquid at low cost and at high recovery rate.SOLUTION: A method for recovering copper from a copper etching waste liquid includes: a step of introducing an acidic copper etching waste liquid into a reaction vessel 5 including a membrane filter 9; a step of adding an alkaline agent for neutralization, so as to make the copper etching waste liquid non-acidic, and then to deposit copper compound particles; a step of filtering the copper etching waste liquid with the membrane filter in the reaction vessel to increase the concentration of the copper compound particles in the copper etching waste liquid, thereby producing a copper compound slurry waste liquid in which the copper compound particles are condensed; a step of heating the copper compound slurry waste liquid in the reaction vessel to oxidize the copper compound particles contained in the copper compound slurry waste liquid, thereby producing copper oxide particles, and of filtering the slurry waste liquid with the membrane filter to increase the concentration of the copper oxide particles in the slurry waste liquid, thereby producing a copper oxide slurry in which copper oxide particles are condensed; and a step of dehydrating the copper oxide slurry to recover copper in a form of copper oxide particles contained in a dehydration product.
