PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a display glass substrate, capable of reducing the magnitude of distortion exhibited by the glass substrate when cutting sub-pieces from glass sheets produced by a drawing process.;SOLUTION: As glass is drawn, the glass passes through a setting zone temperature range (SZTR) 31 and an across-a-glass-ribbon-15 temperature distribution is produced at least one longitudinal position along the ribbon to thermally compensate for in-plane stress induced in glass sheets 13 when flattened. Through such thermal compensation, controlled levels of distortion when cut into sub-pieces are achieved. There is a setting parameter (SZP) defined by viscosity of the glass, Young's modulus, and cooling rate. When performing the drawing at a drawing rate, the SZTR satisfies an expression of 2.7≤SZP≤55.8, and is operated in a temperature range higher than a strain point of the glass.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
