PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber ribbon separation tool and an optical fiber ribbon separation method such that an optical fiber ribbon is easily separated along the length.;SOLUTION: The optical fiber ribbon separation tool includes a separation tool 10 for making a cut in an upper surface of an optical fiber ribbon 1 along the length, and a twisting prevention tool 20 for preventing the optical fiber ribbon 1 from twisting. The separation tool 10 includes a lock plate 19 attached to a tip part of an upper surface of a main body lower part 11 so as to rotate on a lock plate rotation shaft 19a as a center shaft. The twisting prevention tool 20 includes two grip parts 21 for gripping the optical fiber ribbon 1 nearby both ends of a separation part, a connecting rod 22 fitted with the grip parts 21 so that the grip parts 21 slide along the length, and a fixation part 23 having both ends fitted to the two grip parts 21 respectively and formed by a plurality of beads in a row with a cord-like member.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
