PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable it to achieve a long probe time which cannot be achieved conventionally with respect to a substantial probe time with nondestructive measurement applied to a conventional Ramsay method.;SOLUTION: The reference signal generation method includes steps of: (1) to make a π/2 pulse with a phase of 0° in a ground state or an excitation state into a superposition state of half-excitation, irradiating the above-mentioned atom in the ground state, (2) leaving it as it is for a prescribed time (probe time 1), (3) irradiating the above-mentioned atom with a π/2 pulse with a phase of +90°, (4) acquiring a feedback signal by performing nondestructive measurement, (5) performing phase synchronization with the feedback signal by controlling a frequency of a reference signal generator, (6) irradiating the above-mentioned atom with a π/2 pulse with a phase of -90°, and (7) repeating the steps from (2) to (6). It is not necessary to make the probe time all the same at this time. In addition, the step (5) may be performed in parallel to the step (6) or (2).
