PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferrite particle having high electric resistance to effect high electrification properties. PSOLUTION: The ferrite particle comprises a material expressed by compositional formula MgSBX/SBFeSB3-X/SBOSB4/SB(provided that 0≤X1) as the principal component and contains Si as well, further Mg and Si are made exist at the same site of the surface of the particle. It is preferable that the peak intensity ratio (Mg/Si) of Mg and Si existing at the same site of the surface of the particle measured by energy dispersive X-ray analysis falls in a range of 1 to 2. The ferrite particle can be used also as a carrier for electrophotographic development by covering the surface thereof with a resin. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
