A layered composite composition having a general chemical formula of Li_α-xAD_x(Mn_β-y-εAl_yNi_γ-εCo_δ-zAED_z)O₂, wherein AD is an alkaline dopant for Li, AED is an alkaline earth dopant for Co or Ni, and Al is a dopant for Mn or Ni, and at least two of AD, AED, and Al are present in the composition, and the dopants, if present, are at an amount that does not result in the formation of new phase.
