Multi-material adapted wind turbine rotor blade and method for adapting a wind turbine rotor blade. These are multi-material adapted wind turbine rotor blades which include a housing having a front edge opposite a rear edge and a structural support member supporting the housing and disposed within the wind turbine rotor blade between the front edge and the rear edge and extends for at least a part of a rotor blade span length, wherein the structural bearing member includes an original structural bearing portion that includes a first material and a bearing portion adapted structural element extending from the original structural support part in a joint and including a second material.
