The electro-pyrotechnic cable gas generator based on an electric primer according to the present invention comprises lead-in wires (2) that are embedded in a plug (1) produced from thermoplastic elastomer, further an electric primer (3) and other elements. The assembly is sealed in a metal cup (4) by constriction (5). The total resistance of the product is secured by the use of a pressure sleeve (6) inserted from the bottom onto the metal cup (4) with the plug (1), whereby the pressure sleeve (6) is in its upper section closed by the pressure sleeve (6) joint (7), while in its lower section it preferably comprises a sealing compound (11). A method for producing the above-described gas generator is characterized in that a metal cup (4) is inserted onto as plug (1) provided with lead-in wires (2) and an electric primer (3), the metal cup (4) is then sealed relative to the plug (1) by its constriction (5) in the region of the plug (1) and by subsequent insertion of the metal cup (4) lower portion into a pressure sleeve (6) and by making the pressure sleeve (6) joint (7)in the upper portion thereof, the pressure sleeve (6) and the lead-in wires (2) are then sealed relative to the metal cup (4).
