A storage system for compressed natural gas is proposed, which comprises at least one high pressure storage tank for storing compressed natural gas and a cooling station, said tank being connected to a cooling station so that the compressed natural gas can be stored in the storage tank after passing through the cooling station, while after bringing the state of the gas intended for storage to a predetermined range, it is cooled in the cooling station and returned to the tank, and the said tank is thermally isolated from the external environment due to its composite materials and especially glass-fiber-reinforced polymers from which these working high pressure reservoirs.
