An automated test set-up (1.0) comprising a nickel plated temperature controlled vacuum chuck(1.2),a light source(1.3), a digital temperature indicator(1.4), a solar cell(1.1) which is to be tested being positioned on said vacuum chuck and firmly held by said chuck, spring loaded current probes(1.5) and voltage probes(1.6) being manipulated by air operated probe assembly(1.7) and positioned on said solar cell, the solar cell output(1.9) being fed to electronic load(2.3) which is connected to a PC(2.1) through controller module (2.2), a printer (1.10) being connected to the PC(2.1), characterized in that a plurality of measurements are conducted on the set-up, from which a plurality of I-V characteristics of the solar cell can be plotted and the characteristics can then be merged to be displayed on the same screen and plotted on the same sheet for comparison.
