The present invention consists in the treatment of nejayote water by means of the electrocoagulation technique, reducing the COD from 27,845 mg/L down to 351 mg/L, which results in a 98.7% cleaning fluid. Therefore, it may be considered an efficient process for treating nejayote water and avoiding the direct deposition thereof in the drainage. Besides having an easy operation, the invention has a relatively affordable operation and maintenance cost, the electrocoagulation may be implemented in small mills without hiring a specialized work force; an additional advantage over biological systems is that the electrocoagulation systems do not require large spaces for being installed and do not emit malodors.
