A novel method has been developed intended to hydrolyze hair for obtaining hydrolyzed keratin, which may be used as an input material in cosmetic products for the hair care. Residual hair of cattle obtained as a waste of skin processors is used as a raw material. The hydrolyzed keratin is the result of the deliming method and the biotechnological process for hydrolyzing the hair, which uses a combination of alkaline protease enzyme and sodium sulfur under predetermined time, pH and temperature conditions, this resulting in a hydrolyzate that is filtrated and subjected to a purification process for obtaining the solution of hydrolyzed keratin.
