An incubator device (41) for eggs which are present in an egg tray (5) for use in a poultry house comprises an egg carrier (3) for carrying the egg trays (5), as well as adjusting means by which the egg carrier can be retained at a distance above the poultry house floor (7). The incubator device comprises a receiving plate (33) which is present at a distance D 3 underneath the egg trays (5), as well as a height-adjustable railing (37) which is suspended from a hoist system (39) by means of cables (38). The receiving plate is carried by a frame (43) present on the poultry house floor (7). The receiving plate (33) blocks the radiation heat or radiation cold coming from the poultry house floor. An even more important advantage of the receiving plate is that the newly hatched chicks can dry securely and in an optimal environment.
