The system has a supply track (100) comprising a recognition unit (105) and a set of dischargers, each connected to a removal track (110). Palettes are loaded with crates in a palletization station (120) via a palletization head (150). The supply track is connected with a buffer track (111), where attachment of the buffer track and supply track is in transport direction of the crates in front of the recognition unit. The removal track is connected with the station behind the last discharger. The supply track comprises an exhausting path (160) for discharging the crates. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a palletization system.
