The invention relates to geophysical exploration of minerals and can be used for diagnosing oil and gas objects and predicting hydrocarbon deposits. The method for prediction of oil reservoir is based on measuring potential difference of natural electric field on the areas under investigation. According to the invention, to improve resolution at predetermined points of the area under investigation difference of natural electric field potentials is measured, then at the same points natural electric field is excited in the medium by affecting it with pulse seismic field created by the charge explosion in boreholes or wells. After reaching the maximum value of the stimulated natural electrical field repeatedly potential difference of stimulated natural electric field is measured in same points. By the magnitude of the anomalies of stimulated natural electric field conclusion is made on the availability of oil and gas deposits. The invention provides increasing the resolution of the method and reducing its cost by improving technology of prediction of hydrocarbon deposits in difficult for access localities.
