Gene expression relationships in urine for cancer detection

A method for determining the presence of a bladder cancer in a subject, the method comprising: (a) providing a urine sample of the subject; (b) detecting the expression level of at least two tumor markers (MT) in said urine sample, wherein at least one MT is an under-expressed MT selected from the group outlined in Figures 3 and 4 and at least one MT is an over-expressed MT selected from the group outlined in Figure 11 or Figure 12; (c) determining the expression ratio between said at least one under-expressed MT and said at least one over-expressed MT; and (d) establish if the patient has cancer according to a predetermined threshold, wherein the predetermined threshold is established by determining the expression ratio of said MT of subjects with or without bladder cancer.
