A process for preparing titanium sponge from fluorotitanate sodium by aluminothermic reduction, wherein the method comprises the following steps: a reaction step: aluminum, zinc and magnesium are mixed in a condition of introduction of inert gas under vacuum, and fluorotitanate then sodium is added to the reaction mixture; a separation step: inert gas is introduced after the reaction is completed, and NaF, AlF3 and MgF2 10 is extracted in a liquid phase at upper layer; and a distillation step: are distilled Mg and Zn in the remaining product in a vacuum state; wherein the mass ratio of aluminum, zinc and magnesium is 18: 108: 1 to 1: 6: 1.
