A stainless steel sheet which exhibits austenitic excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking and formability, the steel sheet comprising: in terms of percent by mass, C: 0.05% or less; Cr: 14 to 19%; Si: 2% or less; Mn: 4% or less; Ni: 5 to 8%; Cu: 4% or less; N; 0.1% or less; optionally, one or more selected from the group consisting of Mo: 1% or less, V: 1% or less, B: 0.010% or less, Nb: 0.5% or less, Ti: 0.5% or less, elements rare earth: 0.5% or less, Al: 0.5% or less, Mg: 0.005% or less, and Ca: 0.005% or less; and the balance being Fe and unavoidable impurities, in which steel components are included so that the following Md is in the range from -20 to 15, and the average grain size is about 10 microns or less , the occupying ratio of the grain boundaries high angle, of 15 degrees or more, is about more than 80%.
