A method for activating the protein synthesis machinery and deactivatingcatabolic processes within skeletal muscle by regulating molecular signals tocontrol anabolic and anti-catabolic activity in skeletal muscle via nutrientsincluding but not limited to amino acids and growth factors. Also provided isa supplemental dietary composition that may include L-Leucine, including saltsor derivatives thereof, L-phenylalanine, including salts or derivativesthereof, and/or creatine, including salts or derivatives thereof, and may alsoinclude sources of dietary protein and/or carbohydrates.
