The invention relates to a process for producing web sections (2, 12) from aflexible webmaterial (1, 11), wherein the web material is provided with tear-off lines(3a, 3b; 13) at thedistance of the length (L) of the web sections to be formed, which tear-offlines weaken theweb material but do not bring about a complete separation of the web sectionsfrom the webmaterial, and the web sections are separated from the web material along thetear-off lines bytearing. The web material (1, 11) comprises a fabric made of small stretchedplastic bands,and the tear-off lines (3a, 3b; 13) are produced by laser beam processing.
